A priest wrote to Izvestia (8/29) complaining that he was refused permission to give communion to an inmate of an old peoples’ home. A relative of the inmate had already ascertained, from both the administration of the home and the chairman of the collective farm where it was situated, that there would be no objection. However, when the priest arrived with the Holy Mysteries, a nurse told him that the authorities in the district center had refused permission for communion to be administered. (KNS 9/21/89)
