Fr. Bobov, parish priest of the village of Ilovka, near Alexeyevka in the Belgorod region, has been forbidden to serve after refusing to allow a female official of the Council for Religious Affairs (a department of the Soviet government) to enter the altar, forbidden to women by Orthodox canon law.
